Carla Kirkland
Carla Kirkland is the founder and CEO of The Kirkland Group. Having been in education for almost 30 years, she provides professional development, technical assistance, and standardized test preparation to school districts. A champion for comprehensive student support, Mrs. Kirkland holds membership in both educational and service groups and is actively involved in organizations like the Education Industry Association, Jack and Jill of America, Inc., Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and The Links, Inc. This lifelong educator has served as a teacher, curriculum specialist, and mentor. Mrs. Kirkland is a co-author of Praxis Core for Dummies, 1001 Praxis Core Questions for Dummies, and Praxis Elementary Education for Dummies. She facilitates mathematics workshops around the country and resides in Mississippi with her husband.
Chan Cleveland
Chan Cleveland is executive vice president of The Kirkland Group. With almost 20 years of experience in education, he has taught elementary, middle, and high school English and served in several capacities at the Mississippi Department of Education. Mr. Cleveland holds membership in the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE), the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD), and the Education Technology Industry Network (ETIN), and has created and revised curriculum documents for school districts and educational organizations across the southern region. The co-author of Praxis Core for Dummies, Praxis Elementary Education for Dummies, and 1001 Praxis Core Practice Questions for Dummies, he assists students and teachers in attaining positive results on the Praxis, ACT and subject area exams. He resides in Mississippi with his wife and children.
Trecina Green
Trecina Green joined The Kirkland Group in February 2016, as vice-president of special projects. She has a wealth of expertise from her 14-year tenure at the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE), where she served as mathematics specialist, division director, bureau director in the Office of Curriculum and Instruction, associate superintendent in the Office of Instructional Enhancement, and Executive Director in the Office of Professional Development. She was involved with overseeing curriculum development and coordinating various efforts in the areas of reading/language arts, early childhood, mathematics, science, social studies, gifted, advanced placement, foreign language, visual and performing arts, library media, textbooks, the Mississippi Virtual Public School, and Response to Interventions (RtI). She coordinated professional development through a statewide system of support which included developing and delivering training and resources to help educators with the implementation of College and Career Ready standards and assessments, the Learning Forward Standards for Professional Learning, and the Literacy-based Promotion Act. She also provided oversight of the Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science, the Mississippi School for the Arts, the Mathematics and Science Partnership Grant, and the National Board Grant. At the Kirkland Group, Dr. Green provides support to districts in the areas of curriculum, instruction, and assessments administered through the Kirkland Online Assessment Tool (KOAT).
